DAY 1

Apr 09 2019

This is a small travel journal wherein my friend and I decided to get lost around the main city of Metro Manila.

This is also my first journal after joining last year of the same month. 😅

Our original plan was to meet up at the terminal at 10:30 in the morning, but knowing ourselves, we have moved the time to 12:00 noon. Since there are no transportation available that goes straight to Manila, we have taken a ride until MRT in Quezon Ave.

The driver has dropped us in a rather unfamiliar stop. However, we have found a bus in which the fare only costs ₱11 (around $0.2) compared to the ₱25/₱50 ($0.5/$1) fare.

Thanks, senatorial elections. We hope you continue providing us with cheap transportation.

After a short bus ride, we have arrived at our destination. From there on, we have walked by the main campus of the Far Eastern University, and there goes on our mini adventure in a big city.

We have now set foot on Mendiola, a go-to place of protesters as it is close to the Malacañang Palace.

My friend and I had McDonald’s for Lunch. A street child asked for my fries, and when I gave it to him, he smiled so bright.

Ah, yes. His bright smile warmed my heart so much.

After eating a fast lunch, we continued walking towards nowhere; that nowhere turned out to be the street of Malacañang. Taking pictures are strictly prohibited.

At this point, we are now the lost children of Manila. We have decided to make Intramuros our last stop instead of going to Pasay via Taft Avenue.

We have reached Sta. Mesa by foot.

We asked the trusty Google Maps for directions, and since we’re lost, we are going to take the train. To get back to Recto.

We hailed a jeepney from Recto going to Ermita. We did not take any photos as the place is a breeding ground of people who pickpocket.

We have now reached our last destination for today, the historical Walled City of Manila! Intramuros is one of many historical and tourist sites that can be found in Metro Manila.

Oh, you thought we won’t get lost? No. We got lost after hailing a jeepney bound for T.M. Kalaw Avenue.

We got lost in United Nations Avenue; it was a new place for us. We asked a tricycle driver on how to get to the U.N. Avenue Station, but he said it would be far if we traveled by foot.

We were glad to ride a tricycle that time, it was extremely hot.

We then transferred LRT lines for us to be able to reach our final destination (where we’ll meet my friend’s boyfriend).

There are six LRT stops before Araneta Center-Cubao.

I had no photos when we were at the mall. ☹️

We bought movie tickets for the 2019 remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematery. Since I haven’t watched the original movie, the remake is a good watch.

My friend bought materials for them to make their prototype for their research at the bookstore. Then, we all went home.

Before I head home, I went to the hardware store to buy paint so we could also start working on our research.

Was it tiring? Very.
Was it fun? Very.
Will we do it again? Yes.
