DAY 1

Mar 08 2019
Orlando Florida

My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to Orlando, Florida this time to take a break and have a holiday before the baby comes.

So this is kind of like a babymoon as they say.

However, I'm super excited to visit Universal Studios! As well as sleep by the pool while I catch a tan. 😏

Flying with Virgin was quite nice, I quite liked the food and entertainment, especially towards the end of the flight where we got this snack box for tea.
The scone with cream and jam was much nicer than I had expected of airplane food.

We arrived in the evening, and going through all protocols was quite speedy.
Grabbed an uber which was cheaper than we expected and it didn't take long getting to the lodge- which looks just like the motels etc you see in movies and TV (luckily not the dingy ones though).

Although in UK time it was 11pm, in the US it was 6pm, so to help us reset our body clocks, we decided to go out for a stroll to see what was nearby and grab some grub for dinner.
I gotta say, I was so proud of myself for realising I should bring a warm jacket with me, because though it's hot and humid here, inside restaurants (and any indoor public space) there will be aircon and most likely it will be blasting cold air like they're expecting the sun to come sit next to the store all day.

"I noticed just how British I am when I'm talking with them."

We went out to IHOP first opportunity we could and had a great breakfast!
I had asked my boyfriend if we could go to a pancake house for breakfast during this trip and it was one of the first places he brought me to. Even though he's not one for sweet food. I would recommend going here once. I love it, especially the better and pecan syrup on my pancakes.

Afterwards we had a poke around some gift stores which have a lot of Disney merchandise, and stock with the words Orlando or Florida on them.

One thing I've noticed is the accent here differs - I've seen enough American movies to hear the difference between the accents, and I noticed just how British I am when I talk with them. 😂😅

"I secretly fear I'm going to get attacked by a shark"

I feel like I need to share this.

So just like when I'm swimming in the sea, I secretly fear I'm going to get attacked by a shark - the fear was REAL when I was in the Philippines. 🙅‍♀️
The fear here, in Orlando, is that when we're strolling from lot to lot, and I see a body of water-no matter how small, that an alligator is going to come out for a snack. Which would be me.

I know it's illogical and the probability of this actually happening is very low. But I'm human and I have fears! 😤

At the same time, I would love to see a huge alligator in their natural habitat. I'll probably need my brown pants for such an occasion (yes a Deadpool reference).

All I'm saying is the fear is genuine. 💁‍♀️

For breakfast we headed to 7-eleven up the road - which took awhile because everything is spaced out here. The lots have so much room it ends up taking 10 minutes to get to the third building down the road.
At 7-eleven we isn't help but get hotdogs, for one they're cheap here but I had also been craving a hotdog since Raph mentioned it on the flight.

After breakfast we headed back to the lodge and chilled before going to the Florida Mall to do some shopping. 😊🛍️

Raph and I want to get some new trainers as his old ones are worn out, and I need a pair that's going to be comfortable for everyday life- especially work, as the baby bump gets bigger. But, in the "mall" as Raph keeps saying--with an American accent mind you, the prices are the usual retail price. And we're cheap. We want cheap options. So we've yet to make a purchase on trainers. 👟

I love Target.

In the mall I didn't spot a maternity store or a section that sold maternity wear - to be fair I didn't really search because it was quite busy.
However, Target saved me and I managed to buy a pair of maternity denim shorts. I've been getting tired of wearing skirts and dresses already and it's only the first time I decided to wear one here. 😅

DAY 4

Mar 11 2019

I want to add a note about buying tickets for the parks here.

Raph has been to Orlando and Universal Studios before, and he bought tickets at his hotel for cheaper than what they sell at the gates to the park.

So we didn't buy tickets online, because we wanted to see if we can buy them cheaper here.

This is what we found out. Having spoken to quite a few different sellers, there are requirements (probably given to them but the organisations at the parks themselves), that:
1. You have to be a tourist and not someone who lives in Orlando.
2. If you're from the UK, you must be over 30.
3. There were more but as we didn't pass the second criteria we didn't bother ask for more.

So if you're under 30 (from the UK, otherwise I believe if you're under 28..) you won't be able to buy the tickets from these kiosks.

We're planning to buy them online as I'm sure they're cheaper than at the gate - however if they're not then it's the se price we would have paid anyway. 🤷‍♀️

I'll keep you updated.

DAY 5

It's cooler today and cloudy, which I'm a little relieved for. If it was hot like yesterday, we'd get worn out quicker. It's that silver lining you got to look out for.

We decided to visit this flea market we learnt about yesterday afternoon. It's not what we had thought it was, I'll admit.
We imagined a thirft store kind of vibe but instead it was more like a souvenir and gift shop kind of place - which they have tons of here, so we got quite bored quite easily.
