DAY 1Nov 14 2018
The flights is departing from Copenhagen airport, and the final destination is Sri Lanka. First though I have a transit in London Heathrow. The flight from London to Sri Lanka is 10.30 hours, oh damn.
DAY 2Nov 15 2018
From the airport in Colombo I got a pre booked cap that drove me to Kandy. The drive was approximately 3,5 hours even though the distance only is 118 km. My driver informed me that for the price of 1 kg of cashew nuts you can get 25 kg of rice, and that there are 61 different types of bananas in Sri Lanka.
Five minutes after my check in a Switzerland guy also checks in, called Remo. We went out for dinner and beers, great night.
DAY 3Nov 16 2018
Remo and I go to a cricket game in pallekele where a local tuk tuk driver called Su drove us. We got his number and after we had been watching an hour we called him and he peak us up. Now Su drove us around all of Kandy and were showing us a tea plantation and fabric, a spice garden, several local viewpoints and told us lots of stories. Beside that he paid by himself for mangos, bananas and coconuts drinks that we could enjoy. He drove us around for 8,5 hours and he just wanted us to pay what we thought the tour was worth. He was an amazing guy!!
DAY 4Nov 17 2018
Sri Pada / Adam's Peak
Remo and I took the train from Kandy to Hatton to go to Adams peak. The train ride where in 3rd class but was totally fine. The ride is super bumpy but it’s so much fun to try. The scenery was amazing and very beautiful and was so much fun to stand out the door while the train was driving. From Hatton to Adams peak it took one hour by car.
DAY 5Nov 18 2018
We had to be up in the middle of the night to be able to be at the top of Adams peak for sunrise. Our hike started out bad when we figured out we had been going the wrong way. After a while we got back on track and luckily we arrived at the top just 15 minutes before sunrise. Unluckily though I had forgotten the memory card for my camera so I couldn’t take any pictures from the camera, only the phone. The iPhone does take decent pictures, but still a huge bommer. The hike to the top was extremely hard and tough. There are 5500 stairs to the top and it is extremely steep, but the look is totally worth it! After we got back at around 9 am, we got a shower and some breakfast and took a short nap. Then we took down to the local sea where we went fishing with some locals. Only one guy could speak English, the rest only spoke Tamil. They were so kind and the kids followed us and we just enjoyed the afternoon fishing with the locals. We went back to one of the houses and got a tea and a coffee. Great experience !
DAY 6Nov 19 2018
Sri Pada / Adam's Peak
Now the trip went further to Ella in the mountains. We took the train which was extremely beautiful ride with the scenery. It took 4,5 hour. In the train some young local Sri Lankan’s played on a bongo and were singing some local songs. In Ella we quickly found our hostel and went out for food and drinks. We ended up sooo drunk and Remo hooked up with a German girl he met back in Kandy.
DAY 7Nov 20 2018
We didn’t do anything this day, we were hungover.
DAY 8Nov 21 2018
Today we went up at 5 am to hike to Adams peak. The hike was a little tough but it was no problem to walk it. The sunrise from little Adams peak was extremely beautiful! An amazing view! This time i had a memory card in the camera so I was able to shoot some amazing pics!
After little Adams peak we went to breakfast at this high end resort close to little Adams peak, where we had a breakfast buffet with the most amazing view ever! Oh my! Amazing! After the breakfast we hiked to the nine arch bridge. It is an amazing construction and it was so funny to walk on the rails! We were lucky and a train passed by when we were there and got some cool pics and vids of it.
Then we walk along the rails all the way back to the train station in Ella.
In the evening we went out to meet to French girls we met at the train to Ella. Remo was hoping to hook up with one of them. Around 11 pm I went home and Remo stayed. He went sooo drunk so he weren’t able to get up for safari the morning after.
DAY 9Nov 22 2018
Today I went on a safari. Remo was suppose to join but he had been to drunk the night before. The trip started at 5am, sooo early! We were five people who went. The drive to Udawalawe National Park was two hours. The safari was amazing. We had only been driving in the jeep for 30 seconds before we saw an elephant on the road. It is an amazing experience to see the animals in there natural habitat. We saw so many elephants, even a cute baby-elephant. We also saw monkeys, crocodiles, buffalos and tons of birds.
DAY 10Nov 23 2018
Today the trip for remo and I ended. We took a shared taxi from Ella to Mirissa, and then he had to go to Weligama and I to unawatuna.
It was sad to say goodbye, we have had some amazing experiences together and you really get close to a person and bond with them in a special way when travelling.
DAY 11Nov 24 2018
Today I went to a sea turtle hatchery. It’s a place where turtles who get injured in the sea is coming to recover and live. The locals take care of them and feed them and get them back on their feet. The turtles was super cute and it was an amazing experience!
After that I rented a scooter and drove to Galle Fort. A place where you easily can see that the Portuguese, English and Dutch have ruled here back in the days.
DAY 16Nov 29 2018
Now my travel in Sri Lanka is over, and I’m flying to Bangkok where I stay for a couple of days.
What else is there to say that Sri Lanka is an amazing country and I hope to get back one day. The locals are extremely friendly, and the scenery is absolutely amazing. I’ve met some amazing people. Remo whom I travelled with for most of the time, and Su, the local tuk tuk driver who was an amazing guy and made sure our stay in Kandy was remarkable.
I’ve arrived at the hostel. Got some food and then to bed.
DAY 17Nov 30 2018
Today I walked around in Bangkok for 10 hours. I started to walk to the royal palace but before I ended up there I found a local market where I walk around a little. Then I came to the royal palace which indeed was a amazing place but overrun with tourist. After that I was driven around in the city by a tuk tuk for only 100 baht because of a local holiday. He took me to three different temples. After that i took to MBK center in Siam. Siam is a super fancy and amazing area in Bangkok. In mbk i could find everything in a massive 7 plan mall. When I was done there it was around 17.30 and the sunset was about to begin so I found a super luxury hotel which had a sky bar I went op to and was totally underdressed in my shorts and t-shirts compared to the suits and dresses. The view was amazing and I got some amazing pictures !
It was indeed an amazing day!
DAY 18Dec 01 2018
Today I went to China town and again to Siam. China town was crazy and chaotic but so much fun to experience.
In Siam I went to an underground sea world that was located under a big luxury mall. The sea world was very nice and cool! Great experience.
DAY 19Dec 02 2018
So today I flew to Yangon in Myanmar. I arrived at the hostel late in the evening and went directly to the shwedagon pagoda, the most important pagoda in Myanmar. It was very beautiful and very extraordinary!
DAY 20Dec 03 2018
I started the day by walking around in Yangon. I found an very local market. I was the only white person there, great experience!
After that I went to the zoo.
In the evening I took the bus to Bagan. It was an long bus ride, around 10 hours.
DAY 21Dec 04 2018
Arrived at the hostel in Bagan around 6.30 in the morning and could first check in at 14. So I signed up for a free tour around the pagodas that was from 8-14. The tour was fine. The best part was that I met some cool guys. We went back to the hostel around 14.30 and I checked in. But already at 16 we had to go out again for the sunset. We found an amazing spot where we saw a very beautiful sunset. Meanwhile I also got a ticket for smukfest, YEA!!! After the sunset we went for dinner at a local restaurant and the food was amazingly delicious and extremely cheap. We ate there three nights in a row!
