DAY 1May 09 2016
Waiting to board the plane. Can't believe it's May 9 already! In January it seemed like the day will never come but before I know it I'm here waiting to catch my flight. Amazing! Can't wait for my 2 weeks of adventure!
It cannot be more divine! I've been praying for good bunk mates for my trip and God answered my prayer. Not only is my new found travel buddy from SG, she's also going to Hualien for her next destination (we can head there together), SHE'S ALSO ANGELA'S COLLEAGUE! 世界真的那么小吗？！太不可思议了！I believe it's all divined and planned. God's behind it all. Thank you Daddy for hearing my prayer!
DAY 2May 10 2016
Guess what?! We saw fireworks and ziqiang night market even!!!
Btw the night market know is shifted to 东门观光夜市, which is better cos now the famous food street and night market is all in the city center. Only thing is... The night market is very organised and not a lot of ppl...
DAY 3May 11 2016
Today's weather was awesome! Before I came when I checked the forecast, I already knew today will be a cool day but you know how weather forecast is so not accurate. So I didn't keep my hopes high. But when I woke up, I was freezing and I thought it was the aircon until MX told me it rains lasted night then I checked the weather again and lo and behold, it was 22 degrees! This was the weather we came for!! We were so Super happy cos to we were still worried that it's gonna be hot.
We rented the bike at 9.30am and cycle to 七星潭. We were told it was a 1 hour ride there so we happy went off with our bike. In the end it took us almost 3 hours to reach! There were a lot of upslopes so those who wanna do, do take note! The bike trail is along the sea so the view was great but the bike trail is also a longer route. I strongly recommend you to rent a motorbike or if you are in groups, take a bus or cab there.
It was an interesting experience for us cos my bike spoilt halfway and it became extremely hard to cycle. Takes 2 times the effort to move the bike. Now my muscle are aching... BUT, for the view it's all worth it!!
Can take a lot of nice if worthy photos!
Hopefully the weather continues to be cooling. The forecast says tmr will be rainy but I sure hope it's not! Then I can go see some wheat field. 🙏
DAY 4May 12 2016
This morning was contemplating if I should go and cycle. In the end I still went ahead with it since I was already there. It was drizzling but the view was great and the weather too! Very therapeutic indeed! Found a cafe to enjoy a warm cup of milk tea and a cake. Really recommend Chihshang for people who want to find a place to wind down and relax.
When I got back from the cycle I realised that there has been a 5.8 magnitude earthquake. Thankfully it did not affect my area. Heard from my Taipei friends that it was quite scary.
Look at how uncoordinated my dressing is! Couldn't care less in a foreign country eh? Haha! Actually I didn't realise..
Didn't do much today as I had enough of cycling and my hostel is a bit far from the city centre. So I decided to take a shuttle bus to the city, walked to the beach and then bought one item at that night market before I want back at 8 PM.
I must say as you travel down to the south side of Taiwan it gets quieter because it's rural area with a small population and it is less developed.
I kinda regretted not staying another day in Chishang now. The whole vibe that the place gives is very relaxing even the people at the hostel is extra friendly.
Excited to be heading to Kaohsiung tomorrow as it will be a more vibrant city , I hope. It is kinda funny that I actually am missing city life when I am supposed to be escaping from it. Well, I guess I cannot deny the city girl in me.
DAY 5May 13 2016
Had some time to read during the train ride to Kaohsiung. Love how Pst Phill's book is always so easy to read yet it's simple biblical principles that hits you in such practical ways.
Did some shopping! Finally!! Haha, was to this place where the youngsters in Kaohsiung shop. Still don't quite get the fashion here though. Only brought 2 pieces of clothes.. To be continued in Taipei.
Met up with Max in the evening to go to the night market. Thankful for a this SG friend! I must say when I had to contact him I was a bit paiseh cos we not that close. Only had a meal during internship and talked a bit here and there. This guy I must say really have 主見 and 想法. Uber thankful for the short company!
DAY 6May 14 2016
Visited Wuchang Church today. Took a 30-min walk to the church under the hot sun only to realised I got the service timing wrong. Service just ended when I reached.
Went up to the main hall nonetheless to see the sanctuary and met some of the members.
I had nothing much planned for the day. So I gps-ed to the nearest station thinking I'll visit Cijin but the sun was such a turn off so I was hesitant.
Reached (I don't even rmb what station) and saw the IKEA sign. And Guess what, ikea was one of the places I pinned on my map in Kaohsiung and Taipei. Don't ask me why.
So since I'm already nearby and it's too hot to head to Cijin, I decided to stop by IKEA maybe for some meatballs or ice cream or whatever. Just go only.
Headed into ikea, it's like Starbucks where you feel 'home' is anywhere in the world. Walked around, enjoying the aircon. Then headed for Carrefour which is just beside it.
Love to shop in the supermarket! There's so many varieties of everything! Wished I could bring them all back! I'm budgeting $30 to spend at the supermarkets when I'm back in Taipei.
Found this gem! Green Milk Tea, apparently it's a dope drink and true enough, it is! Gonna buy 10 back!
I prolly spend 1 hour there. Was just sitting at this dining area, tapping on wifi, eating, stoning.
Finally my heart was settled and I decided to head back to Pier 2 and then to Cijin, they are all nearby.
Trained to Yanchenpu and rented a bike at a bike shop inside the train station. It was really cheap, just $100 for the entire day.
Decided to visit Pier 2 again as the day before I went at night and couldn't see anything. Glad I went back because the view was really nice and there was a mini art flea going on.
From Pier 2 it was only a 15 min cycle to the Gushan habour. You can bring your bicycle on board the boat ride too! Just $35 and the frequency of the boat is just 10 mins or less during peak hour because it's only a short 5 mins boat ride to Cijin. So the turnover is very fast.
Cycled along the beach and Cijin and it was really relaxing with the cool sea Breeze. What made it better was that it was Saturday so it was fairly crowded with families and kids. It's like the perfect day out!
Too bad I didn't get to try the seafood as I won't be able to finish anyway but I will surely visit it again the next time I come!
DAY 7May 15 2016
Kinda of funny how we were just too turn off by the weather and decided to sit down at a mobile cafe and chat the afternoon away. It was almost like living the 'Taitai' life for a moment.
It was like an exchange session between Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. Pretty epic.
DAY 8May 16 2016
Epic ride from Tainan City to Beimen, thank God everyone was okay. The ride was Super Long and I've never been on such a Long ride on a bike before. To be honest half the time I was quite worried cos 小綿羊 is very light so on the expressway it's kinda shakey but All's good!
Super thankful for the girls because they took time off to bring me around and ride under the sun for so Long. They don't have to but they did. I'm very touched by their hospitality and uber blessed. Thank God for such favour and protection over us too!
